VISA DECISION MAKER, INTEGRITY OFFICER


The Australian High Commission, Port Moresby is seeking to recruit intelligent and energetic applicants for the separate positions of Visa Processing officer and Integrity Officer at the Australian High Commission, Port Moresby. Details of suitable applicants not offered a position will be kept for future employment opportunities for the next 12 months.

The Immigration Section is responsible for processing all temporary and permanent visa applications lodged by residents of Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Island.

VISA DECISION MAKER, INTEGRITY OFFICER (BB3.1)

Level 3 Visa Decision Maker, Integrity Officer
Duties Include:

  • Assess and decide temporary entry visa applications lodged in both Port Moresby and Honiara in accordance with daily allocations and service standards;
  • Collect and analyse information for specific projects;
  • Undertake integrity checks and referrals as necessary;
  • Conduct and assist with interviews;
  • Make and document high quality, lawful decisions on temporary entry applications;
  • Prepare relevant correspondence and brief reports;
  • Respond to client enquiries in an efficient and timely manner, including explaining decisions and dealing with difficult clients;
  • Manage small projects in consultation with supervisors;
  • Prepare outgoing mail;
  • Administrative tasks and projects as required/directed.

Selection Criteria

  1. Ability to interpret and apply complex rules or legislation.
  2.  High level of personal organisational skills with an ability to set priorities and communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors
  3. Demonstrated IT skills including use of MS Word, MS Excel, Access, and email.
  4. Investigative and Analytical skills
