Play For Equity Fund kicking goals for inclusivity, 5 November 2025

The Play for Equity Fund is now open! The Australian Government`s Team Up Program is inviting local communities using sport to drive gender equality and disability inclusion to apply.

The initiative, which is in partnership with the International Olympic Committee through its Olympism365 strategy, supports the objectives of the Oceania Impact Network which promotes gender equality, inclusion, and safety in and through sports.

The fund offers small grants to groups and individuals with innovative, community-driven ideas for change through sport. Since its launch in September 2022, the Play for Equity Fund has supported 63 recipients across 17 Pacific Island countries, and 17 recipients in PNG helping communities promote gender and disability justice through sport and play.

The PNG Deaf Association- a not-for-profit organisation that promotes inclusion and sigh language use across education, human rights, sport, and community development in PNG- is a past recipient of the fund. Through its support, members of the association have been instrumental in leading and developing deaf rugby in PNG and teaching basic sign language to coaches and sport development officers.

The fund is open to non-profit community-based organizations, sporting bodies, collectives, groups and cooperatives as well as individuals, representing a diverse group from Pacific Island countries.

For ease and creativity, applicants can share their ideas and stories in a short video pitch.
