The Australian High Commission is joining health sector partners in supporting Papua New Guinea’s milestone 60th Annual Medical Symposium, currently being held in Lae, Morobe Province.
This year’s Symposium focuses on the past, present and future of Provincial Health Authorities (PHAs).
Clinicians, researchers, policymakers and development partners from across the country are gathering to reflect on the journey of PHAs, take stock of lessons learned, and consider how to continue building a strong and resilient health system for Papua New Guinea.
Australia remains committed to partnering with PNG on this journey. This includes supporting new rural and remote health infrastructure across the country; investing in the next generation of nurses and midwives; providing essential support to address TB, HIV and other health challenges; and helping bring new health treatments, technologies and tools to PNG.
The Symposium is an important opportunity for health sector leaders to come together, listen to and learn from each other, and ensure support for the sector is evidence-based, coordinated and complementary.
