Security Administrative Assistant

The Australian High Commission (AHC) is seeking to recruit a suitable applicant with relevant experience for the position of Security Administrative Assistant within the Security Section:
Under the direction of Security Manager, the incumbent will be required to perform a range of administrative duties, including:
- Be fully conversant with the operation of the AHC Security Operations Centre (SOC) and perform all duties in relation to the effective operation of the SOC.
- Manage a computerised access control system;
- Monitor, record and process security related invoices and report on office managed budgets and accounts;
- Monitor and respond to any unauthorised or unusual activity and alarms as reported to AHC security or observed on the CCTVs or received through radio broadcasts;
- As directed, raise and record purchase orders and liaise with service providers for the repair and maintenance of security equipment at the Chancery and the residences;
- Control and record the issue and return of facility and residential keys and assist with the management of the key control system;
- Update all operational data held in the SOC as necessary – this includes telephone numbers, fax numbers, radio call signs, visitor’s details and registers;
- Provide escort/supervision duties to the service provider’s staff;
- Establish and maintain productive working relationships with relevant contacts within the AHC and outside agencies including family members of A-based staff.
This is a security assessed position and to fulfil the full range of duties applicants must be Australian Citizens and be willing to undergo security vetting.
Selection Criteria
- Good communication skills, both orally and in writing.
- Good organisational skills, problem-solving skills and sound judgement.
- A strong commitment to provide quality client services in a team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work under limited supervision in a critical service environment.
- Demonstrated experience with the full range of Microsoft Office programs and a capability to use other software packages.
- An understanding of the role and function of the Australian High Commission in Papua New Guinea.
