Exhibition marks 40 years of Australia’s global aid program
A ‘pop up’ photographic exhibition – ‘Close Up: Celebrating 40 years of Australian aid’ – opened today at the Australian High Commission in Port Moresby.
The exhibition showcases the history and achievements of Australia’s aid program in fostering economic growth, good governance and stability around the world.
Australian High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea, Ms Deborah Stokes, said Papua New Guinea is the exhibition’s first stop on a tour of the Asia Pacific region.
“The aid program is one of the foundations of the robust, cooperative relationship Australia shares today with PNG, and nations across the region,” Ms Stokes said.
“The unique exhibition showcases the human dimension of the aid program and some of the significant milestones which have shaped Australia’s regional relationships.
“The contribution of Australian aid would not have been possible without our aid program staff, partner governments, multinational organisations, development banks, non-government organisations, private sector partners and volunteers, who have all contributed to extending the reach of our aid program.”
‘Close Up: Celebrating 40 years of Australian aid’ will be on display until mid-March and is available to view online at www.dfat.gov.au
