Australia Week FLICKERFEST Short Film Festival
Flickerfest, Australia’s leading and most respected short film festival, will come to Papua New Guinea for the fourth time as part of Australia Week 2015.
A screening of short films will be held at the Pacific Adventist University (PAU) from 6.30pm on Tuesday 2 June.
Flickerfest is Australia’s largest touring film festival. After 24 years, it remains Australia’s leading Academy® Accredited and BAFTA recognised short film festival presenting innovative, creative and cutting edge short films.
The films to be screened at PAU will be an entertaining, inspiring and award winning selection, focusing on Australian Indigenous culture and contemporary youth issues.
A highlight will include Bush Mechanics, winner of the Best Australian Animated Short 2015. This short film tells the story of four young Walpiri men as they drive across the red dirt roads of the central Australian desert, using their bush ingenuity to keep their car running and themselves alive.
Flickerfest is one of 19 events in Australia Week, from 28 May to 3 June, connecting and forging collaborations between Papua New Guinean and Australian youth through film, music, sport, food and debate.
