Prime Minister’s Department sign agreement with AusAID
The Department of Prime Minister and National Executive Council (PM&NEC) today signed a Capacity Development Agreement (CDA) with the AusAID funded Economic & Public Sector Program.
The Agreement will support the core roles of the department. It will be providing assistance in the development of public policy, performance monitoring, policy coordination and the drafting of legislation.
The Chief Secretary to Government Manasupe Zurenuoc OBE said the signing of the CDA signifies the important partnership between the two governments.
“The Department of Prime Minister & NEC provides an important link between the executive government and the public service. This agreement contributes to the Department’s strategic priorities, strengthening local capacities and ultimately to service delivery to our people,” he said.
Head of AusAID in PNG, Stuart Schaefer, said Australia is ready to support the needs of the PNG public sector.
“At the request of the PNG Government, we are looking forward to working together to strengthen key systems and processes in government,” he said.
The CDA is a tri-partite agreement between the Department of Prime Minister & NEC, the EPSP Program Management Group and AusAID. A total of K3.9 million has been allocated by AusAID to fund the CDA.
