AUSTRALIAN HIGH COMMISSION ASSISTS LOCALLY ENGAGED STAFF IN THEIR TRAINING

 

The Australian High Commission has sponsored a staff member, Simon Nichodemus, a Locally Engaged Staff (LES) to do an accounting course at the International Training Institute (ITI).

Mr Nichodemus, an Accounts Payable Clerk said he is very pleased with the Australian High Commission for its generosity in sponsoring him for this course.

“I would like to take this opportunity to express my appreciation to the government of Australia through the Australian High Commission for this initiative in sponsoring me and making my study possible,” said Simon Nichomedus.

It took Mr Nichodemus a year to complete his studies, although it was a long struggle between his work and studies, he graduated last Friday with a Diploma in Business studies, majoring in accounting from ITI.

He said with this achievement, he is very determined to work hard and looked forward to enhancing his job as an accounts payable clerk.

Mr Nichodemus said: “My performance will improve after I was awarded with my Diploma in accounting and that is a great achievment for my employer, my family and I.”

Australia is a close friend and partner of Papua New Guinea and the bilateral relationships is strong through the people-to-people links. The development of PNG’s human resource is important through this relationship.

The Australian Government through the High Commission assists LES regularly in enhancing their knowledge by sponsoring them to do courses both within the country and also in Australia.
